Afro-Peruvian Museum

The Afro-Peruvian museum was inaugurated on March 29, 2005, it has five rooms and a collection of old carts. In which the Afro-Peruvian customs, traditions and folklore settled in the north of the country since the Spanish colonial period are exposed.
In the first rooms, the visitor can observe the exhibition of photographs, watercolors, paintings, drawings, manuscripts that outlines the historical sequence and the presence of Afro-descendants in Peruvian culture.
The third room is dedicated to a valuable collection of African American black music and musical instruments. The Work Room shows pieces that were used in the field of urban - rural production and a unique collection of black crafts.
Finally, the Torture Room presents instruments that were used to punish men and women in the time of slavery.
